Top professionals discuss ways to elevate status of higher education

Higher education professionals from across Pakistan and the United States converged in town for a two-day activity where intellectual contributions were made to identify challenges common to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), to build linkages with the global higher education community, to create an interface for stakeholder engagement by building synergies, and to brainstorm possible solutions to elevate the status of higher education in Pakistan.

An inaugural stakeholders’ consultative meeting organized under the auspices of the five-year USAID-funded Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) project concluded at Marriott here on Wednesday.
The two-day event, titled ‘Building Strategic Alliances,’ comprised a gathering of senior representatives of public sector Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from across all provinces of Pakistan.
USAID’s Higher Education System Strengthening Activity inaugurates at NUST

USAID’s Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) project has been inaugurated at the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST). HESSA is a project of the governments of the United States and Pakistan, launched from the platform of USAID. The project aims to reinforce the country’s higher education system by capacity building of HEIs.
Launched in October 2021, the five-year project will serve as an impetus to enhance graduate employability and improve relevance, adequacy and inclusivity vis-à-vis the higher education ecosystem of Pakistan. HESSA’s approach hinges upon engaging a wide array of stakeholders to introduce feasible, relevant, viable and sustainable reforms.
International Women’s Day Celebration

The Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) organized a panel discussion on ‘Women and Higher Education in Pakistan – Agents of Change’ to commemorate International Women’s Day. The objective of the themes event was to highlight women’s current and future roles in higher education in Pakistan, with a focus on recognizing their important contributions as decision-makers, stakeholders, experts, and educators across all levels.
