The Office for Global Engagement recently received visitors from the U.S. Embassy of the Republic of Angola. Ambassador Joaquim do Espirito Santo and his team met with OGE’s Chief Global Officer Brian Gibson, and Cheri Daily, Executive Director, Global Program Development, Marketing & Communications to discuss potential program development in the southern African nation.
“We were very pleased to meet with Mr. Espirito Santo and his team, to represent the University of Utah, and to entertain the potential to open a relationship with the Republic of Angola,” noted Gibson. “Africa offers such rich opportunity for research and learning, and this visit provides a great foundation on which to build on efforts already underway on the continent.” The U has an established West Africa Program through its partnership with Ensign College of Public Health in Ghana.
“It’s critical that we continue to develop opportunities for our students and scholars that are rich in diversity of location. A balanced portfolio of international experiences helps our U community step into the global conversation at large,” noted Gibson.
The team will continue to explore the potential for learning abroad programs and other academic partnerships with universities in the Republic of Angola and the surrounding region.
